What does door-to-door freight actually include?
Door to door means Carrgo collects from your supplier's premises and delivers to
your address, handling every step in between: export clearance, the main sea or air
leg, UK import customs, duty and VAT, port or airport handling, and final delivery.
You get one price and one point of responsibility instead of managing separate
suppliers at each stage.
How is door-to-door different from port-to-port?
Port to port ends when the container is discharged — collection, clearance and
inland haulage are yours to arrange. Door to door includes them. Port to port can
look cheaper on paper and end up costing more once haulage, clearance and any
demurrage are added, so compare like for like on the landed total.
Does door-to-door include customs clearance and duty?
Clearance is included as part of the service. Duty and VAT are government
charges that must be paid on import regardless of who arranges the shipment — a
proper door-to-door quote states them separately so you can see the true landed
cost. See customs clearance.
Is door-to-door available for both sea and air?
Yes. Door-to-door works with
sea freight for volume,
air freight when speed matters, and
road freight for European lanes. Choose the
mode on cost and urgency; the door-to-door handling is the same either way.
What does Carrgo need to quote door-to-door cargo?
The collection address, the delivery postcode, what the goods are, and the
weight and dimensions. Incoterms matter too — if your supplier quoted EXW, FOB or
DAP, say which, because it determines where Carrgo's responsibility begins. The
Incoterms guide explains the
difference. Then request a quote.
What is door-to-door cargo shipping?
Door-to-door cargo shipping is a fully managed movement where the forwarder
collects from the supplier and delivers to the buyer's address, handling export
clearance, the main sea or air leg, import customs, duty and final delivery under
one contract. It removes the need to coordinate several suppliers. See
door-to-door delivery.
